Yes thats right Spud, I remember as an apprentice being sent by you up the town to buy TWO pairs of shoes for you :D Seriously, Gerry Wallace sent me out one day to buy him a pair of runners and expensive ones too. When I brought them back to him he immediately threw away his old ones and put on the new ones and spent the rest of the day in that dirty cesspool wearing them in! There was gunge and diesel and dirty metal shavings all over the floor and I reckon the shoes musta been filthy by the end of the day. Eccentric or what! :D

SPUD,

I keep forgetting that you are in the Colonies or Antipodes, is that spelling right by the way?

Do you know that in 2006 over 100,000 Brits have moved to Australia, including two family friends of mine, In their mid thirties.
It is the 1960-70s all over

People here do not feel English anymore now, can't celebrate Christmas in public, foreign looking guys in frocks, Eastern schools, ( no wonder I am heading to France)......by the way WATCH OUT IRELAND....it could be you next . Us expats could only dream of moving back home, by the way what is property like in the Blasketts !!!! Not cheap I bet ..

All I have to do is Dream, dream, dream, (Everley Brothers 1960)

yes enviro lots still emigrating-- except from Ireland-- celtic tiger and all that !we have been having all the culture problems too and as a multi culturial nation i think we will survive in the long term. This emigration thing is for young ppl --ive seen quite a few older ppl do it for the KIDS often it dosent work for the parents though -- lifestyle is very different. as for speelin' dont ask me lol im not a good speeeler :D property prices are about half cost of Ireland !!!! i cant get over the house prices there :-(

Hi All

I'm out of here for a few days. Heading off to Tamworth (the country music capital of Australia) for a Bush Christmas.
Happy Christmas to you and your families. Whatever you do, do it safely.

One of the good things about being retirement age......you get invited to sons and daughters-in-laws for Christmas....get to do all the fun things without all the cooking..but I have been asked to bring the stuffing for the turkey as they say "there's nothing as nice as yours, Mom...and the trifle! As I said get to do all the nice things.
I wish all and sundry a Happy Christmas and be safe and well over the holiday..and may you all get everything you wish for in 2007 !!!! May all your days be sunny ones.!

Well, where did that Christmas go? Hope everyone had a real good one, I,m back in the work groove already, in fact the boss rang me yesterday and asked me to get him out of a jam and come in and work a couple of hours. If he,d rang ten seconds later I was out the door and the phone was sitting in the charger! Ah, he,s a good gaffer as they go so I duly went in and was finished in 2 hours anyway. The boss of this house is off work tomorrow so she,s decided to come with me to Ennis on a job and then onto the Killimor to Tarbert ferry and down to Listowel to her relations for a few well earned jars in the John B Keane, you could call it a busmans holiday. I can taste that Carlsberg already!!
