Grammer's Lyrics and Songs.

Postby grammer » Sun Jul 22, 2012 8:15 pm

I decided I'd put this up as a new topic.
Its not very often I get the urge to brag :D :D :D
but on this occasion I'm going to
-I have written this song -but I have not posted my version on one of the music sites I am a member of.
what I did was post the lyrics and leave it open to anyone who wanted to record it -as a challenge-
there were no preconditions for what type of song it should be-blues /country or folk or whatever
so -here are three different versions -mine is the worst of the lot so I wont post it yet
Mach -lives in Florida
TPB --in Louisana
PJ in Iowa

As I wait for the ferry in the harbour
I take a look back up my town
and I wonder am I right or wrong for leaving
even tho' theres nothing here for me now.

Oh the dreams and plans we made together
now for me there just old memories
cos the sun has set on all my dreams now
since the light in my life it has gone out

All I have left now are these photographs
you and me on some special days
I wonder are they enough to keep me goin'
and will they bring me happy days

As I wait for the ferry in the harbour
I take another look back at my life
and I wonder am I right or wrong for leaving
you were the sunshine of my life

All the dreams and plans we made together
now for me are just old memories
the sun has set on all my dreams now
since the light in my life it went out

All I have left are these photographs
you and me on our wedding day
and I wonder are they enough to keep me goin'
will they help me find happy ways

As the ferry it leaves the harbour
and it heads out in the bay
I turn my back and I'm smiling
smiling -as I walk away

Love the lyrics Grammer 8-) Inclined to agree with Dancer on this one, the third version seems to fit better than the other two. We wait with bated breath for your own composition.......... :)

Great Grammar

Everyone has his/her own preferences, I go for the straight uncomplicated version by MACH IN Florida

Grammer,

Poignant lyrics :( but, don't like any of those singers. It needs your gravelly voice, singing from the heart. Can't wait to hear your version.

:D :D :D :D
thank you for the comments
you must take on board that cos they know Im Irish -the first thing that springs to mind with them will be
naturally enough Irish -so what they have in their minds is an Irish kinda song
have to say though I kind of feel as tho' I have achieved something -
that some people put time into making a song of MY lyrics
:D :D :D :D so heres my version -

sorry if its not up to scratch -but at the time-it seemed kinda alright to me :D
but listening to the other versions -I would kinda plump for PJs
But Mach's is a close contender -modern Irish type folky -christy moor-ish
the three versions are great in my opinion -

Hang on Dancer, he has to get it through the critics first...mmmmmmm

Yes, Grammer, you pass with flying colours.. yours is the best..though PJ wasn't bad.
It must be great to hear them all singing your song. Take a bow Grammer you are some talent.

I deleted my previous post because I know didley crap about song writing and composing. Anyway, your own composition is by far the best one Grammer.
Have you thought about submitting it to a publisher ??

:D :D :D
Why did you delete your post Dancer ???
you were right in what you said -the way I did it is terrible - the reggae beat did'nt really work -
so you do know what your talking about. :D :D :D

thanks for the comments gang -

Gulliver:

Thanks for bringing back those old posts, haven't seen Ledwidge in years.
Tommy I had forgotten how handsome you were, mind you still look good.
Lyrics are very touching, haven't listened to the singing yet.

First of all Sinéad -
I love you too -you havent changed a bit either since tech days-
I suppose we'd better say the same about Denis as well :D :D :D
Dancer
Yeah , you were very handsome alright Grammer, what happened ?

your pushing your luck young lady :D :D :D :D
Life -as a matter of fact -
I have a mirror in the hall and I look in it and Im still the me I always have been :D :D :D
altho I did notice this morning that I have a pimple on me nose-yaaaazzz I hope its not gonna be one of those big ones
my lifes downfall was my long running affair with a certain make of sausages and white pudding from a certain shop in D/L--
I have decided as I am a little more mature -that I will no longer mention their name
cos they never mention me in their advertising. :D :D
anyway back to important things in life -like Strum asked a while ago and no one answered
split ends --and flyaway hair -is there a remedy -
never had that problem when I was young and washed me hair in Hairyliquid.

Grammer,

mention of the nose makes me think of the old chant
"I've got a toothache, a gumboil a bellyache, a pain in me left side and a pimple on me nose". Now it must be 50 years since I thought of that.

We used to wash the hair in Rinso!! it's a wonder we have any left (or right).
Would you believe we had a late night feed of those very same sausages tonight - I will be HICKcupping all night.

Ahhh the good old Tech days Denis :D :D :D

I think Grammer is a Fenderman too, so he would know what Buddy did to his strings and how he played. Good on you Grammer.

Worth a few euro I'd say

one one of the music sites
i have done a collab with a member, an American guy called Gabe Stanziano

who is one of the best singers I have ever heard
and never met -he was a pro for over 30 years
so Gabe on vocals -me the rest
a Buddy Holly song in time for the Anniv.of his passing
