Now, now, Jemser, behave yourself and stop getting tetchy just 'cause we didn't all jump to answer the question, I'll have
to have words with your mother about you.

If you can find out when Cyril Isaacson died you will know when the shop ceased trading, he was the owner. I know one of his
relatives was active on FB in the Dun Laoghaire section about a year or so ago. I regularly bought my glasses there but for the life of me I just cannot remember when they closed. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

I think the Internet cafe was in the old Morris Wallpaper Shop.

No doubt you've heard of the DART in D/L? How on earth does a DART derail at slow speed?

Strum, I don't believe it matters how slow a train is moving to derail, just be thankful it wasn't moving at full speed !! not an expert on rail matters but I would suspect the points dontknow

Friends:

I am sure you will be pleased to hear Ireland made it into the Wall Street Journal
to-day, not for something about Michael O'Leary, because we have issued a stamp
to commerate Che Quevara! Thought you might like this snippet of useless info.

Yesterday I received the sad news that an old workmate and friend Jerry Wallace had passed away in Melbourne.
Jerry and I worked together in Farrells Eng on the west pier in Dun Laoghaire. Jerry was not built in the usual mould of a Sheetmetal worker and because of this he could and often and did rankle established views in many ways .
I remember him as a doer ! He was trailed at a couple of soccer clubs in England in the early 70's and it was at one of these trials he was found to have a shadow on a lung , TB .
Jerry accepted this in his own style ,set a path to conquer this hiccup and in a short space of time did so .
We tried to set up a small business in the after work hours no had many niche little contracts . Two of those that spring to mind were the art / balustrade in " Jon Days " hairdressing and the ground breaking " in its time" " Couples boutique " in Dublin .
After burning the candle from both ends for a while Jerry dropped a thought bubble one night" I'm thinking of emigrating to Australia " wow ! We did this and in the early months in Melbourne we supported each other and in time our lives took different paths .
Although we lost contact many years ago it does not diminish the sadness I feel today .
Farewell my friend and may your spirit return to the cosmos from whence it came .

Spudseamus,

What a lovely remembrance of your pal Jerry. I think our first workmates are and remain our best friends. I can't imagine the sadness you are feeling today. Not only your workmate but the one who blazed a trail with you to Melbourne. As you say "You dreamed the dream". May he rest in peace.

Sorry to hear that your pal passed away Spud..... we are all at that stage of life and its never easy to say goodbye to someone we have been close to. Its a year since I lost my best mate and all I can say is that life goes on for all of us and our pals would not want us to do anything other than live it to the full.

Celebrate his life with a parting glass and always remember that we are only here for a short time .... life is to be lived and feck the begrudgers (and politicians  ).

Sad news Spud, may he rest in peace, it's hard to lose close pals, especially after what you two did together.

Spudseamus:

I am so sorry for you in your loss, even though your paths changed such a pal is always
with you. May he Rest in Peace and may you celebrate his life in the way he would
have wished in the manner of your youth.

I am lucky to have survived both TB and Cancer but who knows what the next check
up will bring. Because I have lost so many friends in recent times I decided to make
a trip Himself and I talked about but never got to make. At this moment I am on a
train from New York to Chicago - Rocker HID will be hopping mad - I have just had
dinner and am feeling no pain.
