My all time favourite musical. I saw Lea Salonga in Miss Saigon at the West End in 1993. Another beautiful musical. I laugh at Grammers reviews of the Sharknado movies I wouldn't miss em.
Lately I've been watching the Jack Taylor series, having read the books.

I watched most of it but I was so dissapointed, I turned it off and went to bed. Not a patch on the real show - lacking the passion and emotion and strength of voice of the live performance.

Theres a DVD available of a live "concert" version of the show made on its 10th Anniversary with all the original cast and chorus. That one captured a great deal of the stage shows energy. Two highlights for me
- "Master of the House" rendition
- A brilliant moment is when the little orphaned girl Cosette is doing her famous solo "Castle in the Cloud", a stage bulb blew and she jumped out of her skin with fright - but never missed a note (41:00)
Here is the YouTube link

Micheál, all I can say is WOW, what a performance. I have been enthralled over the past three nights watching this show way into the wee hours of the morning. It was an absolutely fantastic, amazing performance from all the cast and what a fantastic way to end the show. It has given me hours of entertainment over the last three nights. Although, I am sure the neighbours are fed up hearing my attempts at "Bring Him Home" about 2 o'clock in the morning.... If I can just get that high C like Colm Wilkinson does at the end. If a first you don't succeed etc. here we go again "God on hiiiigh, hear my prayer......la la la.

I love Emmylou but, it probably is no joke having to look happy at every gig.Life is a beach and can drain the laugh off any one.
Enjoyed that grammer.

I was watching "Recruits" on RTE last night -2nd part to night
great insight into the basic training and toughening up of raw recruits into the Defence Forces.
very funny at times -very tough and rough-no mammies boys would get through the course
I hear on the Whineline -people on moaning about the treatment of the recruits-bad language etc.
bad language never hurt anyone -as far as I know.
Boy if these moaners had their way-we would have an army of little cissies.
Looking forward to part 2 tonight -bet most of the recruits get through tougher and better guys.

maybe we should introduce boot camps for the messers.
turn them into dontknow dontknow dontknow dontknow

I watched Part II tonight after hearing Liveline today. Really felt for some of them. The girl was some tough cookie keeping up with the lads.

Don't think I would have lasted that week in Wicklow - putting back on wet clothes in January - no thanks.

Well done to them.

Watched part 2 earlier -Yes -I have to say I felt a burst of pride every now and then -
Our young people do us proud -and it showed again tonight -
That girl should not be described as a tough cookie -she was an army recruit like the rest -in our PC world of today -all sexes are equal
Most of the recruits came through and yes the girl was one of them
Congratulations to them all-
I hope they enjoy their careers in our Defense Forces.
Just as an addition to the prog.
Our Defense Forces are are regarded as one of the best in Europe -small as they are -

Ah come on Grammer. Did you see the Backpack she had to carry from Wicklow to Kildare. PC or not I think she was a tough cookie (in a nice way I might add).

Did you see one of the guys feet after the march. How did he walk with his feet like that.

I did not see part 1 but the difference from the beginning of part II to the end of the program was very noticeable.

They looked very smart in the uniform.

Your right there NM
Of course the girl is some tough cookie -but she was well aware of what lay ahead of her -her twin sister is also in the army-
As the NCOs reminded them in plain english   that Backpack contains your survival gear-

congrats to her and the rest of the recruits --
Their faces showed their pride at the passing out parade.

Someone posted this on Facebook tonight and I have enjoyed watching it. Plenty of local faces. I never had the pleasure of meeting Mr Lysagh but, a great Blackrock man the late Paddy Kelly appears.

Watching Mary Black perform on TG4 in The Session . It looks so dated yet I remember well wearing my hair in a similar
style and having the shoulder pads in my jackets  I always loved her clothes . Great singer !!

See Gogglebox and First Dates are back. I really enjoy those 2 programs. Great "switch off" for the brain. Not that it is "switched on" much.
