Just watched Réabhióidithe Hollywood on TG4, very interesting.
It was about Arthur Shields who never spoke of his involvement
in The Rising and George Brent (Nolan) who took part in the War
of Independence and used it to create mystery about his background.

What an absolutely fantastic race that was. I spent many a day out there in Morton Stadium, with Blackrock AC and later with DSD AC. I watched many fantastic races but my favourite was always the Steeplechase. I remember one time we had a very famous American Coach over to watch an athlete perform in the 3000m steeple with a possible scholarship resting on his performance. During the race just coming onto the back strait the young fella fell flat on his face and we thought it was all over for him. To his credit he got up, chased down the pack and won the race, needless to say the Coach was very impressed and offered him a great scholarship. Brings back great memories Gerald, thanks for posting.

Been meaning to watch 'Boomers' on the Beeb but kept missing it.
Tonight I remembered to watch it and it didn't let me down.
Classic farce with a brilliant cast, I laughed throughout.

I watched a program about Glen Campbell's battle with Alzheimer's last night.
Very sad to see him lose his ability to remember his place in the world around him . It really is a frightening
disease to contemplate especially for the people who have to watch their loved one become like
a stranger. It was lovely to see how his family and band mates were so supportive when he lost his way
on stage and the audience I think appreciated the fact that this would probably be the last time they ever saw
him perform . Sometimes it's not about perfection .......it's about connection !

I heard him. Never had him figured as so articulate and on the ball. He is so right "the elephant in the room". I'd need a few weeks to go through all the ducks and dives of so many of those mentioned. Golden circle it was now it is the platinum circle.

Watched that on Sat' night Toss, and had intended to comment here but got waylaid.
What struck me most was the fact that with all the people employed in the national media whose function is to highlight and call to account those responsible for the inefficiencies and other cock-ups in our society, it takes a F***king comedian to say it like it is. And fair play to him he did just that, and in doing so put to shame so many of aforementioned overpaid so-called journalists, TV and otherwise.Good for you Oliver Callan!!

I went to Mario Rosenstocks show at the Gaiety tonight ..... loved it, very pacey with loads of fun as long as you have a sense of humour and are not offended that Ray Darcy has turned into God

Went to see Guys and Dolls last Tuesday in Bord Gais Theatre, great show really enjoyed it. I'm always amazed at the talent of stage performers. The cast in the show, sing, dance and act brilliantly, I'm still singing and humming the tunes. Live theatre is great you're kind of waiting for someone to make a mistake and you're delighted when they don't. Though there were times when I wished I could've pressed a pause button and go back on some of the scenes but that's live theatre,demands your full attention.

You can't beat a good show Dennis, I feel I haven't been to The Theatre in ages and am having withdrawal symptoms......been so busy with our own show and all that goes with it.

Went to the Abbey a week or so ago to see The Plough and The Stars, was a bit
dubious as it was to be a modern version. Well it was FANTASTIC, it retained all
of the dialogue with modern cloths and voices. Had it been on longer I would
have gone to it again. I was at a matinee and there were lots of secondary school
children of all nationalities and they all seemed to understand and enjoy it. On
the way out I heard one girl say to another - 'just imagine we have been sitting
for 2 and a half hours'. Great production if it comes back all you theatre goers
should see it.

My information is that the above mentioned show is on Saturday 28th May, Raging Hormones in full uniform. Ballad session afterwards, bar, convivial atmosphere. Prime opportunity for a meet up, no cover charge all welcome.
