Recorded the film on Christina Noble and watched yesterday. She was some tough cookie but certainly got a lot
done with no great resources. Having met Christina a few years ago I can tell you the language in the film did
not fully reflect her very colourful tongue, which is probably a good thing.

Had the pleasure of meeting Christina in The Pavilion Theatre a few years back when we did a play about her life, loved doing it we had great fun with her after the show.

I watched this New Zealand (anti?)WW1 movie early in the week -I came across it just by chance -it was on true movies--
It is the story of 14 conscientious objectors It lead me to read up on these guys later.
All I can say is how men put up with and had to put up with that kind of treatment is unbelievable.

Yes, Jabra, (and still nobody seems to know how it came to be known as the Marble Arch).

That's a great find. Wasn't Father Delaney around in the early 50's as well.

Hillary Clinton's health issues have been much commented on through the alt. media, but not so on the main stream where an array of ridiculous excuses are put out there. Here, Hillary ,herself, dispels any rumours:

God, that is a low down stunt. Hilary may be ill, but,to laugh at an ill person?? Trump ...I won't even lower myself to comment on him....

Clicked into TG4 the other night and saw the most amazing programme on Brendan Boyer. I'd forgotten how good he was in the day.

The Trump team are not exactly on their own in disliking the Clintons and American politics is open to all sorts of dirty tricks ..... would it have been OK to make oversized nude statues of Hilary and start placing them in public places ??? because that was was done to Trump. American politics is all about image manufacturing and money, the voters are just x-factor fans picking their favourite act.

Sorry Rocker, but what you call a low stunt is just par for the course in the USA and it only shows the level of intelligence of the electorate when two such loathsome creatures can be promoted as suitable to govern the country. Sadly we are following the same path, I see poor Joan Burton is making front page news by bleating about how she was called a c*nt by water protesters........ theres no doubt she was probably called it, but NOBODY will pull her up on using the word herself and in doing so, point out the fact that she is normalising it.

The situation after the election is worrying.
It seems to me that no matter which candidate wins, the office of presidency, the government, and the whole process of democracy has been damaged very severely by this election. I would predict that you will see organised protest in many states and the rise of other demagogues. I would not be at all surprised if such protest will lead to violence in some instances.
Trump will go down in history as having unleashed forces which he cannot control. He will not go back to "normal" life building towers.
Clinton will not be a respected leader - she is unlikely to have the ability to keep the lid on things, let alone restore confidence. But at least she is likely to have more support within Congress and among senators and governors than did Obama - this will likely be the result of the damage inflicted on the Republicans by Trump.
What happens then!!!!

You're so right Gulliver. It's frightening what could happen if he even gets close to Hillary, maybe a landslide victory for her will limit the damage that has been done.

You talk as if there are only 2 candidates in the US presidental race, the 3rd candidate could well give Trump the lead and then it will be down to the
electoral college.

Thats a few years old now Grammer, but interesting just the same ..... I wonder what people make of it ?

Is it tribal ?
Is it threatening?
Are people worried by it ?

I showed it to a few and some found it to be all of the above ..... then I asked how would it compare to the New Zealand Haka and they immediately defended the Haka as acceptable because it was normalised in rugby games dontknow I've no idea what they were doing in that video, but I doubt very much that they would admit to being Glasgow Rangers fans these days

I've been binging on Netflix over the past week - two spectacularly good series "The Crown" (Season 1 of 6 planned seasons is 10 episodes) and "Designated Survivor" (6 of 22 planned episodes recently released, No 7 to be released this week).

Really very good. Netflix has outshone the BBC in its production of The Crown. The sets, the cars, the overall look and feel, the use of public buildings like Buck House itself is something you might expect from the BBC, but would not expect from Netflix. The cast, who are mainly relatively unknown are great. The accents are exactly those you might expect from royalty. Those of us of a senior age will remember the various events and persons depicted.

"Designated Survivor" is the last man standing when a bomb blows away almost the entire US government (President, VP, congress and the senate). Kevin Bacon as president Kirkland takes over. Gripping stuff.

Thanks for the tips Gulliver

I'm currently transfixed by "The Missing" on the Beeb.
Very compelling story line revealed in a clever sequence. (but some poor casting and more than a few scenes lack authenticity. I'm guessing low budget)
