Watched a marvellous program on BBC2 about partnerships in nature.
Examples of partnerships.....
+ fish with skin parasites (dangerously) rubbing against a very much alive shark's rough skin to remove the bugs.
+ an eel secreting itself inside a live sea cucumber
+ a gobi fish sharing a seabed cave-home and acting as lookout for a blind shrimp
+ an owl family living in a burrow alongside prairie dogs. The dogs alert other dogs (and the owls) when predators approach.
+ my favourite is the African honeyguide bird. It finds a beehive but it needs allies to benefit........so it goes in search of humans, calls to them....they follow the bird to the beehive. The humans leave some honeycomb as a reward for the bird.
Isn't Nature amazing!!!

Watched this during the week, my mam's brother was one of the Chindits who went into Burma but sadly never came home, and only last year his name was added to The Rangoon Memorial at Mayanmar.

There's an Australian movie called ' The Kokoda Trail ' that depicts the war in Burma in all its horror.
It's a difficult watch, but if you're interested it's a must see to get an idea of exactly what those men went through.

Just watched it Slipper, :( not really about Burma though, it was the Australian's keeping the Japanese from invading their Country, battle took place in Papua New Guinea but I'm sure it was much the same terrain they were fighting in and they did keep them out. ;)

Oh snowy, Your poor mam's brother. scry scry

I can't bring myself to watch the videos I'd say they are harrowing.

In the 90's we did a railway journey in Thiland part of the Burma railway line built by the prisoners of war. We just went to Kanchanaburi but it was frightening and amazing at the same time to see the engineering and to think of the numbers of men who died building it. We went to the commonwealth war grave and wept for hours at the inhumanity of the Japanese toward the prisoners. I can still cry when I think of the heat, the insects, the starvation, the cruelty...for what in the end ??

Oh cruel world, that has such creatures in it!
I am not afraid of tomorrow, for I have seen yesterday and I love today.

Rocker I'm sure both sides did their fare share of terrible things to each other, just so hard to justify it at all.

Slipper I did enjoy the Film, my mam's brother was beheaded by a Japanese soldier because he was a Sargent as were all officers that they caught, so I found that one scene in the movie awful to watch, I'm sure you'll know what I'm talking about.

Saw this tonight.

Bobby Sands: 66 Days
A very interesting and detailed - but by no means complete - examination of the Hunger Strikes.
Its amazing how much we forget despite living through it. I'd recommend this documentary to all

Outlander

Follows the story of Claire Randall, a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743, where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world where her life is threatened. When she is forced to marry Jamie Fraser, a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior, a passionate relationship is ignited that tears Claire's heart between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.
