Trick of the light I think as all that is gold ! But I do sometimes get gold covered in mercury which would make it silver looking! The old timers lost a huge amount of mercury in the creek as they amalgumed the fine gold

Ahhh the stuff at the bottom of the pan is tin oxide !

This a little ball of amalgum from my poverty bottle ! This is collected from the black tin you can see at the bottom of the pan ,I suck all that up into a small plastic bottle that has a small amount of mercury in it and it captures the micron gold into the mercury

Hey Spud, that new Enviro burner reminds me of the old watchmen years ago that used to guard the roadworks. They had great braziers and if you were lucky they would let you help them lighting the red lamps that they put to mark dangerous places on the road. What heat those braziers threw out on a cold night. Great to see you back from the Outback. wuu

Only back for a while then ill be off again ! Yes my old man used to do the second job for many yrs as a night watchman ! I used to sit with him sometimes with the coke fire ,magic, and lit some of those road lamps too !
The fire in the pic is old gas cylinders cut and welded to make a good type of brazier!
