Our first TV was from Totterdells. It was a PYE and I was sure Charles Mitchell could see me when looking "out of the TV". To get "colour" we got a blue perspex that hung over the front.

Our first true colour TV was from RTV Rentals.

Did none of yis ever go to Gordons?
Seamus O'Connor was another stalwart of Murdochs. He is heavily involved in
The Borough Historical Society and can regularly be seen at antique and coin
fairs around the Borough and surrounds.

We also got our paraffin from Murdochs and a shop on York Road (cannot remember the name). Remember the man in McGoverns shop down at the park organising ticket for my father to Lourdes.

The shop on York Road was Paddy McCabes. (Cash Stores)
Paul Dunphy and Yikey Watson also worked in Murdochs in the late "70's and '80's.

I can remember the store being built facing my house on Lr Georges st my brother in law Tony Hennessy worked during the 1950 the store at the top of Library Road was the stables hence the horse shoe door Bill Mullen ( Sauscer) used to take me with him on deliveries I can remember going to Castle Park School in Dalkey in the early 1950s.
When the new store was built I parked my Mini Bus there every night because I had a lot of band gear in the bus and the carpark was well lighted but I removed the bus before the store opened at 9 am,Shamus O Connor ,Sonny Moran and Tony McGuirk also worked in the new store .

Great photos Thanks Thomastown. Love thinking back on the good old days when roundabouts were manageable.

Good ones TT. I remember a discussion about those "Five Lamps" as they were known and it was supposed to be restored. Like everything else that was supposed to be "restored"

Yep, you can't beat simplicity, (and I should know, being of that persuasion myself!).
