I love this old ad found on the ask about Ireland site.

Love the ad Rocker especially the bit about Health and Pleasure, always preferred to swim in Sandycove or Bug Rock :D :D

Read in the paper today that a statue of Roger Casement is to be erected as part of the Baths' redevelopment.
He was born in Doyle's Cottage, Lawson Terrace, Sandycove......I looked it up.

This link Includes a small artist's sketch of the proposed development......(Nov. 2015)

There I was looking at old nostalgic photos of Vienna when a lightbulb went ping!!

1985 at the Donauinsel an artificial island in the Danube within the city....looks a bit like what was proposed for Dún Laoghaire but I've heard they cannot proceed with anything because the walls of the old baths are holding up the roadway at Newtown Smith ..oops..
I am not afraid of tomorrow, for I have seen yesterday and I love today.

Are they retaining the original building with the main entrance? There's a nice mosaic on the doorstep, I hope that's preserved.

The main building is being retained, but I'm not sure about the mosaic by the entrance. Hopefully they will leave it be.

Good to hear that, we'll see.

I have a good photo of the mosaic, somewhere, petition in mind on the "other" D/L page.
They promised to preserve the Victorian ironwork from the carlisle pier train station, but that was scrapped. They promised to restore the five lamps on Mounttown roundabout, but that was dug up, they promise all kinds of sh*te...
Let's try save some fkng thing from developers even if it's as simple of a mosaic, because it's a legend.
