Yeah it was pretty cool (geddit)

Seriously it was great to see kids out making Snowmen, skidding on kitchen trays, snowball fights etc...

Not so much fun though for our Farmer friend who delivers important goods around the Country no matter what.

A medal for you FB!

Its one thing to drive on snow but ice holds far greater fear to the motorist. Coming up by Lucan heading for the M50 last Wednesday afternoon and traffic was at a crawl. Just as well really, the road was like a sheet of glass and my biggest fear was that if the traffic ahead came to a complete stop then I wouldnt have been able to take off again. Thankfully it didnt happen. The reason I,m in the fast lane here is because its the slip lane that leads down onto the M50 and I didnt fancy trying to get across three lanes under those conditions. I think the picture shows just how treacherous the road was that day.

It hasnt gone away you know.......the Midlands this morning between Athlone and Galway with lots of slush and snow especially in the fast lane. On some stretches the entire fast lane was covered and apart from one fool in an articulated truck, nobody would drive there.

got a call earlier from my gang in Arklow -the bottom end of the town is closed-the river water is up to a dangerously high level at the main bridge into the town --and the bridge has now been closed -they have a problem with an artic mobile home carrier (or something like that ) and theres a danger of it hitting the bridge --also high tide is expected ---so the bottom end of the town is kinda cut off - :-| :-|

Wow Grammer hard times for a lot of people around the country.
I can't imagine flooding on that level, I mean when a river bursts it's banks and floods a residentiial area,
although I've seen it in a mates house with only a foot or so of water, but still, the damage is unreal. :-|
All the best to your kin mate.

Heard a bit about that on the news grammer, i think Enniscorthy and several parts of Kilkenny are affected as well. This winter has been just crazy so far.....

P.S. the "waterfall" is indeed frozen, its man made of course where they hacked off stretches of land to make way for the new motorway leading into Galway. Hard to believe that you can now drive from there to Dublin without having to go through even a village.

Ive spent the last 5 minutes looking for somewhere to post this --

so its the weather -right :D
just talking to a guy tonight -passed a comment to him that the roads are very messy and patchy looking -
he said yeh its the results of the gritting during the snowy weather
we got talking -and he said that the water cutoffs are not to do with shortages and leakages -but th contamination of the underground natural water streams and runoffs to the resivours(ah s**t it cant spell it correctly) by the sparying of land and roads with UREA(using Urea apparently is a good de-icer BUT)
dunno meself -but maybe there maybe some truth in it :-| :-|

Wouldnt be surprised Grammer if that were the case. Some of the roads especially in the country are in dire straits. I was driving near oughterard yesterday afternoon listening to a CD when without warning my front wheel went into this huge pothole with an unmerciful bang. Not only did it knock off the CD but the radio/CD power went off altogether. I thought the tyre must,ve burst for sure but luckily all seemed to be ok. Just as well I had three quarters of my cargo off the truck at that stage.
