hey enviro
any chance of sending your gritters here?
More than 2,000 people spent the night trapped inside the Channel Tunnel after four Eurostar trains broke down due to wintry weather.

It is thought the trains failed as they left the cold air in northern France and entered the warmer air inside the tunnel, Eurostar spokesman Bram Smets said.

The exhausted passengers are now on their way home, hours later than expected, but the tunnel remains closed.

Hundreds of people are stuck in France waiting for services to resume and many others are waiting in Folkestone.

Grammer,

You see, all that technology and Diesels are sent to recover them...There is too much reliance on hitech stuff now, even with modern trucks, as Farmboy will confirm with 'chipped' management systems and God knows what else..It appears to be a major management connunications cock up, right down the line.

I use the Tunnel frequently and over the last 13 years or so I have never had an issue...I dare say it will be another major enquiry..at least its was not terrorist inspired, I hope !!!

Grammer,

Maybe so...my Daughter in law is Chinese and I drove her and my son to Stansted at 0.600 this morning and the roads quite treacherous off ther Motorways, M25 & M11 ok..I don't know why they book flights at unearthly hours and Stansted is a 70 mile each way drive. They are off the Egypt for Xmas, Sharm el Sheik, near Tel el Keibir, there is a dairy there hink. Abdullah el Sutton is the boss. !!!!! I told them not to ask for bacon sandwiches...

Maybe it will freeze later but right now my garden bench is just damp where all week it has been white with frost. This past 2 days the R.T.E. weather forecast has been for tonight to go down to minus 8 degrees but theres no sign of it yet. This morning the midlands were treacherous with lots of black ice. I went into a skid a couple of times but luckily rectified it with no harm done. Coming onto a roundabout near Loughrea and tipped the brakes but the truck didnt slow down hardly at all, not very pleasant sitting in the middle of 10 ton of sliding mass! The joys of motoring!
