Great photos Dancer, they are just beautiful creatures. There should be a stop put on people going out to harrass them, just look at the wake of the 'boy racer' (it may be a girl) they have cut right through the path of the dolphins.

Great pics of the dolphins, I was off work today and would,ve gone over if I,d known. :? Actually I did a 2 hour cycle but bypassed Killiney and was further up along Shankill/Bray beach. Well done on getting them on film today. :) 8-)

god Strum,

What a video! how exciting to hear the sounds of the dolphins and the lapping water. Video camera seems to have taken the plunge in the water!
I'd be too much of a coward to get close, maybe navanman might have a canoe in real life, but, they might upend that - what was your man's name Jaques Cousteau? thats you Strum. Aren't we so lucky to live in such a breathtaking spot? We really don't appreciate it.
I am not afraid of tomorrow, for I have seen yesterday and I love today.

Rocker
Went out to Fungie in a mirror dinghy some years back. He came up about 5 foot from the boat and frightened the s*&*t out of me. Was much bigger than the boat (maybe twice the size). We nearly capsized with fright as everybody jumped to one side of the dinghy. The boom swung around, hit my wife on the head and knocked her out for about a min. Of course the crowds were all around us in the big local Dingle boats and though this was very funny.

Just to mention a few years ago a friend from Galway told me about a wild dolphin that was coming right up to the shore in a small bay. We went down with our children and sure enough when you walked out to about waist high this wild dolphin came right up and you could pet it. His/ her skin was rougher than I thought it would be. There was a guy in a canoe about 20 ft. off the shore and he threw his paddle away and again this wild dolphin kept pushing it back to him. It was scary to see him come flying towards you but it was facinating. Hard to believe he was wild. They are quite big. I have a friend that has canoed with the Killiney bay dolphins. He has a film of it on you tube. If you have the opportunity to get out to them I would recommend it. Don't know how easy it is to see them. Are they regulars now?

Even if you don't see the dolphins it is well worth it to rent a boat from Monica (if she is still there) in Bullock and go up along the coast to Killiney Bay - absolutely breathtaking on a sunny day.

Beautiful coastline.
