Leinster Junior Cup Trophy in Rugby 1936/37 . Correctiion it is Belvedere College photo.

We thought it was Blackrock College but, a fine team.

Suggestion that it might be Junior Cup Team 1936-7

Sure I thought I might as well put up one of the teachers there - the long fellow - a stylish lad with no earpieces on his glasses.
Those collar pins may make a minor comeback - I saw one of them lately - worn without tie

Great picture. Isn't the grandson Eamonn the picture of the long fellow. As an aside, in my day the Parish Priest in Blackrock was Fr Sean O'Cuiv, some in law of his.

Im not sure this is Blackrock College unless they have changed their colours. Very little information around on schools team colours of the day. I think the beat Clongowed in the final so it could be them? Blackrock college historian may be able to help?

Them's Belvo not 'Rock.
Cup would have been presented on Paddy's Day 1937.
If we could see the cleric on the right he'd be a Jez-wit , not a Wholely Goat.

Thanks Micheál,

I have sort of edited the photo post. It will be exciting for any Blackrock boys who look in to see a photo of Belvedere!

Ha ha

Actually, I have a long-standing admiration for Belvedere. Their Christmas fast every year in the city centre is just one reason.

Micheál,
Don't forget Belvedere's 'newsboys club' which was very successful over a great number of years.

From Black and Grey? :

I was thinking like you too Strum. It was like those old photos which Gulliver was putting up and everyone but me and Navanman had a wide screen and could see the toilet in the adjoining shop window.... I wondered where the colour turn on button was on this clapped out machine. I can only see Black and Grey too but, I suppose if it had been Blue and White the Grey would have been lighter!!!...like me washing!

This one is especially for Rocker with her colour screen
Just gave the pic a little cosmetic treatment with Paint Shop Pro.
Would you prefer another colour, Rocker?

Gulliver,

That is just gorgeous but, the purists are going to tell us that Belvedere colours are Black/White (just googled them!!). Sorry, hope I didn't make a mess of your posting by copying the photo on to the incorrect place with the incorrect heading etc. Lets say a botched job! not worthy of the Jaz-wits or Wholely Goats...touch of the Doh-mick-and-annes.
