Anyone remember an Anthony Carroll in the 1960s ?

Postby MikeMahon » Thu Jul 27, 2017 3:13 pm

Just wondering if anyone in Dun Laoghaire might remember an Anthony Carroll who would have been in his 30s back in the 1960s ? He had a sister called Joan. He possibly emigrated to the UK in the late 1960s ?

I see from your other posts that you are searching for relatives. Is this part of that search?
I am not afraid of tomorrow, for I have seen yesterday and I love today.

Dear MickMahon:

If you are trying to find people I suggest you give all the information you have.
Then perhaps someone might be able to help you. It is always possible the
search you are making maybe sensitive to another person. It is unlikely this
man was known as 'Anthony' most males in The Boro had nicknames at that
time.

Thanks, yes , this is part of my continuing search for any relations I might have. I am adopted and am trying to find out anything i can about my original parents. My original mother was a lady called Kitty Lyons from Dun Laoghaire and after my birth she and my father left Ireland for the UK and moved to Blackpool. I found a UK marriage record between a ms Mary C Lyons and an Anthony Carroll in Blackpool in 1970, I had been told my original parents had left Ireland at the end of the 60s and had emigrated to Blackpool in the UK and got married there. So this marriage record is of interest to my search as the timeline matches and it is the only close match I could find.
However the first name doesn't match up (Mary \ Kitty \ Catherine ?), but if I could trace this Anthony Carroll to Dun Laoghaire in the 1960s, then it just might be a match.

But this Anthony Carroll and this Ms Lyons could be completely unrelated to my case and so I am being very careful.

Search further and see if you can get the full name of the woman. 'C' could be for Catherine and from this she may
have been called Kitty. Where did the marriage take place? The location of the marriage may hold a fuller record.
Church records are a great source of information. Search birth records for the area and see if they had children.
Good luck with the research.

Thank you. I have since found out that he may have been a barman (though that is not confirmed).

Mike,
I presume you've already seen this entry for a Mary C Carroll in the electoral rolls for Blackpool?
