Great stuff Micheál. Since my childhood I have been fascinated by the "friends". Their records are fascinating and I am lucky to have an acquaintance who acts as a one of their archivists.

While I was in looking at those records I also copped that Find my past have a data base "lives of the first world war"

the information is only as good as the informant but a cousin of mine remembered my grandfather and great uncle on the site and the amount of detail you can record is amazing.
Personally I am reluctant to sign up for these genealogical sites, like the tribesmen I fear they might steal my soul!!

The historic records of Births over 100 years ago, Marriages over 75 years ago and Deaths over 50 years ago of the General Register Office (GRO), will soon be available to view on www.irishgenealogy.ie, following their launch at 5.30pm on Thursday 8th September 2016.

This is really addictive. I've added a huge amount of detail to my tree. And , disarmingly, discovered several key assumptions were wrong and found some 'known' family histories were contradicted by the official record.

Just done a fair bit of research of the family history in Dun Laoghaire and Glasthule and see the old addresses they all lived in. I have Echo Court, Hassards Court, Albert Place, Foster Place. All long gone now. Is there any maps with these places shown?

Just done a fair bit of research of the family history in Dun Laoghaire and Glasthule and see the old addresses they all lived in. I have Echo Court, Hassards Court, Albert Place, Foster Place. All long gone now. Is there any maps with these places shown?

Echo Court, Hassards Court, also Hazzards Court are all the same place - Where Dominick St is nowadays. They were originally leased by a William Hassard in the grounds of Echo Lodge.
Foster Place was off Cumberland St, Where Brendella Skirts now stands
Albert Place was off York Road (then York Street), on the left as you go up, about 200 yards from the junction with Lower Geo St.

Thanks Gulliver I found a few maps which also helped. The one thing that's constant is the amount of young marriages lots of kids and all dying fairly young either as young adults or young kids. also there's always a surprise waiting. I think I'm definitely a dun Laoghaire boy that's for sure. Well at least since 1841 so maybe I am only a runner in.

This is by far the best map of the western half of Dun Laoghaire and of Monkstown.... ever...- click on the "+" sign multiple times to enlarge it to a huge map which is dated 1866. It shows Albert Place and Echo Court. Foster place is shown but not named.
Because it is so huge and detailed, it may take some time to download .... be patient

Gulliver was there by any chance a Judes Court around Temple Hill Blackrock ?? Don't know if this is the Correct name as it's hard to make out the Birth Cert I have ??

Had a look at Gulliver's book Victorian Dún Laoghaire and it lists Pim's Court as being located on Lower George's Street.
