St Begnet's Graveyard Dalkey

Postby MikeL » Sat Nov 09, 2013 1:38 pm

Hi

Does anyone know if any burial records exist for St. Begnet's Graveyard in Dalkey and where can you get access to them. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks,

MikeL

Hello MikeL and welcome to the site.

I am sure there is someone on here who will be able to help you but, a quick google says there is a map with names available in the Heritage Centre at Dalkey Castle

Joyce Tunstead has researched the graveyard as under

here are the photos Joyce took

Many thanks for the replies. I was told that the Dalkey Heritage Centre only held info regarding the headstones in the graveyard. I'll contact them.
I'm researching my mothers family Kavanaghs who came originally from Ballybrack. Older people would remember Kavanagh's Row and the site of a nursery/gardening business which is now the Nurseries Housing Estate. Also possibly a grocers called Timothy Kavanagh. I've managed to locate some graves in Dean's Grange starting in 1866 and have been lucky in that there are Kavanaghs in Griffiths Valuation and in the Baptismal Registries for Dun Laoghaire RC in the NLI. I'm presuming that there will be other graves in Dalkey and/or Little Bray. Again many thanks for your hints

MikeL

You might be right about the records only referring to the actual gravestones...I found this interesting one which has the map attached.

My Carr family are mentioned. I must go and check them out. Surprising what you find when you are looking at someone else's family stuff.

Kellykid posted photos of his family some years ago and one of them was Patrick Kavanagh, might be a relation of yours...

Kavanaghs Row is on the historic 25 OSI map in Ballybrack as is Ballybrack Nursery. If you locate Shanganagh Terrace just south is the junction of Church Road & Wyattville Road; the Nurseries is just beyond in Loughlinstown direction

Hello colliescout...Welcome to the site wuu
How generous of you to put your family research here. I hope MikeL looks in to connect with you.Of course, being a nosey Rocker I have had a look and appreciate the work you have put into compiling all the information. I am a novice in the family history business but, find the whole subject fascinating.
