Rocker,

I wonder did they have mud speculators and developers back in those days?

Grammer,

I'd forgotten that one  We used to say (for a laugh) our Solicitor's Company was Sue,Grabbit and Run!!!

Getting back to the Tom Cruise debacle...I was mortified to see our Tanaiste there handing him the cert etc...but, I was listening to the radio this morning and seemingly Tom was raving to the English (while at a premier there) that his relations were Irish! and he has so many followers on Twitter and they are all Tweeting about the fact so it was good publicity.

Now..when my fame is realised I want you all to shout from the rooftops...her mother's grandad was from Avondale and her dad's grandad was from the Rock...I must see if I can get one of them certificates of Boroughness...we could have a Gathering ..." Boro Roots" !!!

Thanks, how do you find them? Now maybe I'll be able to get a death cert for the
Gr. Grandfather and a marriage cert.

Sinead,

I find the www.familysearch.org (the Mormons site) great for looking up marriages and deaths and with the details of the volumn number and page number I go to the Central Records Office in Abbey Street and buy the copies for €4.00.

And aother thing about NZ research Rocker,

Their Newspaper archive is simply fan-tas-tic
You can search and retrive individual articles or see whole pages from a host of different papers. All for free.
I now know my g.grand uncle won a prize for the quality of his pigs - an extra penny per pound from the local abatoir.

And there's even foreign news of interest like "Guns landing in Dalkey" in 1914 (I suspect it was actually Kilcool)

The winter is coming and I'm back to the family research. My finds for the last year have been a long lost distant cousin on my mother's side of the family and a bunch of lost lost distant cousins on my father's side. Here is the scary thing since I have met them and chatted I have found that they all live on the one estate and are friends...never knowing any connections...further chats have linked about ten families in the immediate area who never knew they were related or linked by marriage...seems we will be able to have a gathering of our own without even having to take out the car!!

Remember when "Albert the Vindicated" tried to move it to a much more accessible location - Roscommon?

My dad, James Joseph Kenny left Kingstown, his birthplace, in 1921 at the age of 15.He had 7 or 8 brothers and a sister. They lived in Wellington St and Crofton Place. I must have cousins somewhere.

Welcome aboard.

Hope you have some luck tracing the cousins. Not a good idea to put you e mail address on forum might be picked up by scammers.

Hi Scunibuni43

I presume that you found your family in the 1911 census when they all shared a house (with the abbot family) at 4 Crofton Terrace your grandparents had a large family of 7 sons, one daughter and an uncle, and also in the 1901 census when they shared a house (with Carrolls and McSorleys) at Albert Road, Glenageary
Find them in 1911 here http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/p ... ace/90898/
and in 1901 here http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/p ... d/1320941/

I may be in Dun laoghaire in the next 2 weeks and can take a photo of the house in Croften Terrace if you wish.

Don't know what house it is in Glenageary.
