Hi Guys,

Last weekend I lost the connection to the Internet. Perlico talked me through it and things worked perfectly for the evening.
Since Tuesday I've been getting the following messages
IP address retrieved which is coming up constantly, quickly followed by, but not always low or poor con..... but that's as far as I get before it goes off.
Sometimes I get Unexpected HTTP Responce Status Code 12007 (was getting that last week as well)
Now practically every time I switch from lets say Home to Forums or indeed any Topic I get Internet Can't Display this page.
When I try Post something I end up posting twice as I press the 'back button' to get me on to the active page again and then have to delete.
Videos only play for a few seconds and photos come up either as a Square with a red X which I have to right click and then when it does open it only shows in part, most of the time. ( I have countless photos of the sky at the moment )

The Modem is a ZyXel and the 'Internet light is flashing constantly.
In all, five lights show: Power, Ethernet (1) Wlan, DSL and Internet (flashing)

1) Do I need a new Modem

2) Do I need a new computer ( The only rthing I've done recently is put up my Normandy photographs on it)

3) Do I need a new ISP

4) All of the above

Thanks

Jordo

Hi Jordo. You must be pulling you hair out with this.
It sounds like a server issue to me so you will have to take it up with your ISP again... Perlico.
I would suggest if they cannot sort it out over the phone ask them to send out an engineer.
As a last resort, change your ISP. I've been with irishbroadband for 2 years now with no problems.
2 friends are with btbroadband with no problems and good customer service I believe.

Hope you get it sorted.

Looking for a bit of advice from Strum or Ted. I bought a laptop a while ago and pretty much everything works fine. Yesterday I went to access my emails, I am with Campus and when I clicked on any email it did nothing. Maybe with my limited knowledge I did something to cause this because last week I could access them. I logged into Campus on this computer tonight and I can access my emails no problem so its defenitely my laptop. Appreciate any help. Ta.

I have been searching Farmboy but can't find any info on that particular problem. It doesn't make sense to me at all. Are you going to the campus site to read your emails or using Outlook Express on the laptop?

I,m going to the Campus site Strum. When I,m in the country, I use the Email from the fun trivia link to play the game. Thats only this past few weeks as I only got it a while ago. I was able to read my emails last week in the same hotel on the same internet. I thought it must have been restricted cos it wouldnt let me into the paddy power site there. Then when I got home last night I was sure I was gonna be able to get to the emails but no luck there. Thats not a major problem cos I can get them on the house computer but I,d still like to be able to read them while away. Also I,d like to be able to play the quiz while away. I can access this site in Galway although I cant log in , I think its limited some way. The "page loading" box doesnt disappear and so it blocks the top row. The hotel in Donegal has WiFi and I can log in up there ok and get the paddypower site.

I recommend going to this site on your laptop, access the trivia game from here in games and add the link to your favourites.
That should work for the game anyway.

As for the other problems, sounds like settings...try asking your ISP about it...I'm sorry I have limited knowledge of WiFi and laptops, but Hotels may have a firewall setup on their service blocking out certain sites...thats just a guess though.
I'll keep looking...

Hi Strum,
Brought that over from the Assignment Topic.
I copied and pasted a number of photographs into a Word document with a written description. I then copied it and posted it into the I Amsterdam Topic but when I viewed it only the writing had appeared. Tried it again with a single photo in Assignment and the same thing happened so then brought in the single photo through IMAGESHACK.

Aha, that won't work Jordo. It's impossible to copy / paste a photo.
All photos have to be online somewhere first before you can upload them.
You would need a program like photoshop to write tags underneath the photos, or even on them.

Like...

It took me about 5 mins to do that...

There's a very good free program at the link below.
It has most of the features that photoshop has only easier to use.
It's actually a great little program this...and FREE!!!!!

Have fun!

Cheers
