Yeh keeper was'nt thers something special in standing on the bridges be it Killiney -Glenageary or Dun laoghaire station
being lifted up and and getting a good lungfull of steam and smuts :D :D :D
and being on a picnic on Killiney beach and watching out for the trains as they puffed and chugged their way from Dalkey towards Bray and the drivers always tooted their whistles befor they entered Killiney station -or even better we might be lucky and see a goods train with millions :D of wagans passing through without stopping --
ahhhhhh jaaaaaazzzz they were great days

Just been down looking around the back of Dun Laoghaire station (Mallin). In many steam trains the engine had to be at the front of the train, and facing forward, and so a turntable was required at every place where a journey terminated. If you look at the wall which faces the Stena building, there is a section of it which has been replaced and is not victorian. My understanding is that this is where the turntable of Dun Laoghaire was.

Gulliver,
That is correct. I have access to a railway historian and just checked with him.

Some really great shots there budgie, love the interior ones, they look so comfy compared to the modern ones and the ones out beyond Bray head are massive too. I wont infringe on this thread as its cie trains and the ones I have are taken from the transalpine train in New Zealand. I,ll open a new thread and put that small bit of footage I took in there as well. 8-)

I'm confused with this photobucket site. All those links look the same, same folder etc but the bottom ones are broken or telling me no pic available. Maybe it's my browser. Anybody else?

I'm a frayed knot Budgie. Not for me anyway.

Ok this post is getting a bit messy and it's photobucket again. Remember all the photos you lost with them in the past Farmboy? :o

I suggest everybody use Imageshack from now on because photobucket was never reliable. Ok for storing photos online but not for forums.

Here's how to post photos to this forum. Might be an idea to register first.

Same problem here. I got a message telling me I won a prize and it would not let me get back to the topic. I had to exit the site to get rid of it.

Indeed I do remember Strum, I was able to see all budgie,s pics for some reason yesterday but not now. If I,d known I would have saved them and reposted them for him but sure you,d need a crystal ball sometimes. :| :?

With imageshack you can upload photos without an account, same with photobucket, problem is that they are not saved anywhere online.
What I mean is imageshack saves them but photobucket doesn't. Photobucket will only HOST them for a while then delete them. Make an account first then they are saved permanently online.

That make the slightest bit sense to ye? :D

Micheál,

What a find...must have been a special day as there are all grades of staff there and very shiny shoes and hat/caps. Must see if HID can get some idea of date,

Can't take my eyes of a tall guy 2nd from left in the back row...he remind me so much of that Green Party self opinionated Eamonn something or other...always banging on about wind energy etc.
