I worked for a company which had a medical department. It was rough and ready with a large waiting room where everyone heard your interrogation by the nurse. Herpes was the new big thing and was spoken of in whispers! I presented with a face full of cold sores whose medical term is herpes simplex. ....the waiting room was full of men and Me the next the door to the doctors room opened and the nurse roared" send in the girl with the herpes"...chairs and tables were scattered as the men raced for the door...

Earlier this week I had an appointment with a specialist - I was there on time but there was a delay. When I did get in to
him he was quite harassed with all the delays, I told him if I were meeting him under Clery's clock I would have long gone. At least this got a belly laugh from him.

Folks:

The man was born in Dublin, of 'Yella Belly' parents, is proud of his heritage, played Gaelig and Hurling and rides a bike. He is my cancer consultant and there is absolutely no bull with him.

Time for a bit of a moan!!
I have been watching the rebuilding and extension of the Frescati Shopping Centre in BlackRock with interest and it is now almost complete...a low lying building taking up a lot of space...why oh why didn't Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council insist on the owners (as part of the refurbishment) building five or six stories of social apartments over the shops? BangHead BangHead

I go to Vienna a lot and in every suburb the Aldi (Hofer) shops and Lidl shops have stories of apartments overhead. It would have so many pluses 1. the area would be "lived in". 2. people would get an apartment in a town centre. 3. young people could stay near their extended family in their own community. etc...
