I worked with Ski McCann, he was a good mate of mine, as far as I can remember he was a founder member of Spurs Supporters Club in Dublin in the 70s.
Had many a session with him, mostly in McKenna's in Dun Laoghaire, Does he still live in Carriglea and is he still in the ESB ? Lost touch with him around 1980.

Keeper, Ski moved out of Carriglea years ago to the private houses behind Sallynoggin church, can't think of the name of the estate, but sadly Ski must be between 3-5 years dead. I worked at his retirement party which was in the Goat Grill and got talking to him, only to find him to be sound. As a kid in Carriglea i'd be with his 3 sons and i seen him differently at that age...anyway he had a clapped out car in his garden full of empty fish boxs and we'd play away on it and in it...great!

Thank you Doodledo, I am so sorry to hear about Ski, he was a character and we had some great times and many an adventure together. As always, it is a shock when you don't even know a friend has died and only find out years later, I moved from the area years ago as well and have lost touch with many others, this is why this site is so important to me and others who have, or had to move away.

Number 28. Lily Kelly and her 4 brothers, John, Jemmy,( worked in St Michaels church all his working life) Noel, And Christy (my godfather. and whom I'm named after) Are my aunt and uncles, Sadly all but Noel are now departed :( The house is no longer in the family. I was born in Ashgrove 1958, But spent most of my young years in the gardens.
Best mate(s) were Paul Mc Kenna (RIP) his brother Mick (RIP) & Allen Smith.
I remember when Ganny McKenna lived in number 29  Also Ollie Lynch (number 2) was my uncle Noel's best friend.

And not forgetting number 27, A great lady that's still a friend of my sister, We love you M ;)

I was in Carriglea Gardens a couple of months ago  We knew what was going on with the old golf course, But to see what's now in its place :(
