All mounted on the wall :D

The space i left on the right is for Granda's jersey which i will be collecting this evening from my uncles house (Derek Kelly, from the equally famous footballing Kelly clan from Ballybrack)
As we live in Galway im driving up tonight and staying in Ballybrack to collect my parents from the airport early tomorrow morning. I'm going to pop over to Shanganagh Cemetry to visit the man himself.
I think its only right he see's the finished product first :D

Thanks everyone for all your help.
To see the smile on my mothers face after reading her all the stories here and showing her the book was priceless, she was and still is proud as punch of her Dad.

Oh she will need plenty of tissues for sure, there will be a good mix of happy and sad tears from us all :D

Sarah, that all looks wonderful. It's lovely that you took so much time and effort to do
all that for your mum . I can just imagine the scene when she goes into that room.
Well done you!!! hellllo

Hi there. Just wondering if anyone that played for tek in late 50s or early 60s would.of played with Alfred conway. Born in 1938 he apparently played as goalkeeper and referee but would love to go and find out more information and the history etc. Any help would be appreciated. Karen doherty

Dear Karendoherty:

Welcome to the site. I am sure Harjo will respond to your question.
He is the resident expert on soccer in the Borough, he has written
a book on the subject.

Welcome to the site Karen. Here's a link to Joe's Book. And as Sinead has said I'm sure he can fill you in of some details.

Hi Karen welcome to the site , cant say I remember Alfred if you check the website there is a photo of T E Ks combined teams in 1958 and he may be in that although I don't remember ever hearing his name , I would have known most of the goalkeepers and players at T E K, Vincent Kennedy, Mick Murray, Frank Gallaher, Jackie Vance and would have played with most of them'
Have just checked and cant find anyone of that name playing with T E K or any other team in the "Boro " around the time you said but if you come up with more information I will be glad to help in any way I can.

Yes indeed Rocker Sarah's is a fitting tribute to a fine man who played the football fields of the "Boro" for so many years during the 1940s,50s,and 60s, and was well thought of by everyone in the area .

This site never ceases to amaze me. I am only seeing this subject now and think what Sarah has done is one absolutely lovely present for her mother.

Now I am wondering how much more there is that I have never seen.

It must be THE reference for site for all others.

Long may it last!

Alfie conway was my dad. He played goalkeeper and referee. Just would love to get some background on his football career for my son who is a goalkeeper now too. Thanks for your help here. Any help or photos would be really appreciated. Many thanks karen
