I think so keeper. All the sites I visit are deadly quiet even the usual hopping genealogical ones. The sun sapped our energies and lying around drinking cool drinks took up a lot of time.

Is my question too obvious?.........Is this site, where there is great information, discourse and jollity......is to be no more?
Please enlighten us all publicly and therefore properly as I for one, am not privy to the 'private email' chat culture which exists in the background?????!!!!

I could tell you .... but I'd have to kill you !

as for private emails, not guilty and not an issue.... I just think the lack of posters will eventually kill it off

Me neither, GT. I can only post where the topic and or subject is relevant to my knowledge from afar. I can still get enjoyment from the news and gossip from my hometown, but am limited due to absence and distance from commenting on topics like local politics and local affairs.
Wish I could do more to promote this site. Any ideas?

No hidden agendas or background chat or e mails....Strum is trying to get someone to fix the site and as we all know it is run on the shoestring so it has to be someone good and free or cheap. The other problem is that there are no new members and those five or six of us run out of things to say. I look in every day but as I am rarely in Dún Laoghaire I don't know the day to day happenings so have little to say....HID would disagree with me but   I'm positive I don't talk too much...I went to a Mr Khoo in St Michaels about my croak and he thinks I talk too much...how can so many people be so wrong!! I used to be in the corner at school but I don't think that was for talking too much

Well Bugrock, this kind of site is of preference to me because its not like FB! Your approach is a sensible one but there are less serious topics than Politics or such-like here.....maybe narrow down the amount of topics and make it more informative on Dun Laoghaire and the Borough, in general. There is competition from Twitter and FB.....its easier to post pictures on those and I suppose thats the market desire now. I must sympathise with the admin...Strum et al.........There is a lot of work and legal responsibility that goes with it. Shame if it goes.

Ginger tom, I know nothing of private emails, do clarify this, am I being excluded from something???
This was and is a great site, people have come and gone over the years, most of them making great
contributions. Regrettably, some posters seem to have taken thoughts and threads from here and
used these elsewhere. Right now we are short of new blood, that is what is always needed to jog
our memories and liven the site.

Well Sinead, I must say that on 27th of November 2014, you sent me a private email enquiring as to my what my profession was. I have saved a copy. I responded to you and its the only time I have used the facility. So maybe you can tell me if any private thoughts exist on the site's status???!!!!! I merely attempted to highlight that it is possible that contributors thoughts could be conveyed to each other via this function, as well as being posted online, in the fora. As Im sure you do, and have done previously......along with others on this site. I have no issues with this at all. Its a normal thing to do. This is an everyday occurrence via ordinary emails sent by millions of people, the world over. As I have said before when we post publicly online, our musings will be read and plagiarised always, by being re-written and re-formulated. Yes new contributors make new thoughts. Lots of new people, new thoughts and ideas, is exactly what this site needs.

Very interesting posts from GT. I think these thoughts have freshened up the site and given more direction for the rest of us to post. This is after all, the injection we needed to fire us up. Toss has opened up a new avenue as well, and made me rethink his observations as relative to my (very happy childhood) upbringing.
Full marks to Rocker, Sinead, Michael and the other friends who kept this great site alive!
Well done, Strum! wuu
